Frances S. Morris Endowed Faculty Chair Award
Feb 20, 2007 -- The 2007-2010 recipient of the Frances S. Morris Endowed Faculty Chair is Prof. Samuel Colton, the Welding and Technical Programs Coordinator at AWC. Professor Colton was presented with this award at the AWC Faculty In-Service Luncheon on February 20, 2007.
The Endowed Chair is a 3-year renewable program that rewards AWC full-time, continuing faculty who demonstrate evidence of excellence in the following areas: teaching/learning, student support, and support of college advancement through participation in task forces, committees, student activities, partnerships, and community outreach.
This Endowed Chair establishes the legacy of the Morris family support of quality teaching/learning as AWC continues to serve the needs of Yuma and La Paz counties. The chair is supported by a $100,000 endowment established by Frances and Herb Morris, who are among the founding families of Yuma and are long-time, generous supporters of AWC and the Matador Athletic association. Mrs. Morris served on the District Governing Board for 28 years from 1977 until 2005. |
